Florida: Anna Maria Island - in search of propane

Day 184

We plan to leave here tomorrow. Before we could leave we needed to get a couple of items delivered that Clark had ordered during the week. The last two items he ordered came today. Yay!

The first package he received contained a new propane tank. He needed to go after the other package which was being held at the post office. As soon as he learned it was at the post office, he jumped on his bike to go retrieve that one as well.

The second package contained a new regulator for the propane connection. He installed the regulator as soon as it came, and so far the gas is holding its own in terms of pressure. That is a good indication that the new regulator has resolved the gas leak problem. Clark is performing tests to see if the pressure holds.

The new propane tank came with a sticker on it saying that it needed to be purged before it could be filled the first time. Unfortunately the Ace Hardware that is only four miles away did not have a means of purging the new tank. The Ace Hardware store nine miles away could both purge and fill, so he rode his bike there.

I had no desire to ride my bike nine miles, sometimes on highway, to get a propane tank filled. Besides I knew that Clark could move a lot faster if he did not have me tagging along slowing him down. Between chasing down the regulator package and going to get the tank filled, Clark traveled over 20 miles on his bike today.

On his travel, he managed to snap a few photos to share on the blog.

While Clark was out on his bike, I mostly sat on the boat and put some of my random thoughts about life on the loop into a document. When I wasn't doing that, I was bird watching. Many birds are living in the "jungle" next to our boat. They make the worst sounds when it is dark out - quite spooky. I can't help but feel like something might jump out an attack me as I walk by. During the day they grunt and cluck such that it sounds like we are living in a barnyard.
