Depart : Hertford Town Dock 10:15
Arrive: Albemarle Plantation 1:00
Distance: 22 nm
Unlike the other
towns we visited on the Albemarle Loop, the Albemarle Plantation docks had two
folks ready and waiting to grab our lines and help us dock. The people we met
here could not have been friendlier. Once our lines were secure, one of the plantation
residents invited us to join him on his golf cart for a tour of the grounds.
Shopping and
a town are not nearby. The marina and houses located here are surrounded by a golf
course. Tennis courts, an Olympic-sized pool, and two restaurants are on the
grounds. While here, I took advantage of the free washer and dryer offered for
visitors to the marina. They even offered to drive us to the grocery store, and we took advantage of that offer as well.
We had not planned to get fuel here, but when we heard the price was competitive with Coinjack Marina, we decided to take advantage. Having just finished tying all our lines and connecting electric, I was not thrilled to learn we would be moving the boat to the fuel dock and back to our slip. Since we are leaving early in the morning, fueling the next day was not an option.
