2023 south: We have liftoff

8 November 2023

After waking up at 6:30 yesterday morning, I could not stay awake for the rocket launch. Clark had taken a nap while I worked on the blog, and he was as excited as a kid at Christmas to see the launch.
The launch was originally scheduled for 11:11 but was delayed until 12:05. Clark used his phone to listen to the audio and used my phone for video recording.

The first video shows liftoff. With the direct view of the launch area from the water, you can see the engines startup followed by the liftoff. There was fog around the boat and at the launch site so the video is not as crisp as it could be. Clark noted that due to being about 45 miles away, the sound took a while to catch up. The second video runs to main engine cutoff.

Watching in person, the color of the burning gases appeared very yellow. There was a lovely reflection of the launch on the calm waters of Mosquito Lagoon. (Ignore the bug that took center stage during recording!)

The third video is the second stage.
