TI: Canajoharie to Scotia NY

Saturday 8/4/2018
Depart: Canajoharie Town Dock 8:40
Arrive: Scotia Town Dock 2:45
Distance: 34 nm
Locks: 6 (E-13, E-12, E-11, E-10, E-9, E-8)

Sleeping last night was a combination of "rains" and "trains". Clark joked before we went to bed that "... during the night, we are going to have trains running through our bedroom!" How right he was! Clark apparently slept through all the noise and heard none of it. I slept in between trains and rainstorms.

We woke to clear skies and headed for a place we have never visited before - Scotia. Along the way, Clark decided we should make a stop at the new Mohawk Valley Welcome Center to see what they had to offer.

I did not know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised by the visitor center.

A theme-oriented playground is available for the little ones.

A small museum is located inside.

After hours melting in the hot sun at all the locks today, we decided to go in search of ice cream upon arriving at the Scotia town dock.

On our bike ride we learned that a free concert would be held at Freedom Park starting at 7:00. We finished dinner just before 7:00 and grabbed our stuff to go to the show. Precisely at 7:00 the skies opened up and it poured buckets of rain. True to their word, the show went on "rain or shine". As we stood on the boat waiting for the rains to stop or lessen, we could hear the band already playing at the nearby park.

We thoroughly enjoyed the music that included classic songs from our past with several TV show theme songs like "Secret Agent Man" and others.

Part way through the show Clark jumped up and ran off. He did this several times as the sunset changed in the sky.
