Cayo Costa Anchorage

Friday 12/1/2017
Depart: Punta Gorda Fiddlesticks dock 1:45
Arrive: Cayo Costa Anchorage 4:30
Distance: 19 nm

After two nights staying in Punta Gorda, we waved goodbye to our friends on Fiddlesticks and set off to find our Anchorage for the night at Cayo Costa. We rushed rushed rushed to get to the West Coast of Florida, but now we have time to spare before our reservation in St Petersburg. Given that, we spend a lazy morning chatting with Jim and Carol and set off after lunch.

We stayed at Cayo Costa two years ago as part of our Great Loop trip and decided to anchor in just about the same place we did at that time. The only thing new about the anchorage was a wrecked sailboat on the shoreline. To get to our anchorage spot, we circled around a number of boats anchored just off Cayo Costa to tuck ourselves in a protected area close to the mangroves.

Having been here before, we did not get off the boat to go explore. We just hung out and relaxed. No WiFi here, so no blog updates were possible today.

This turned out to be a nice Anchorage location until I started to have allergy problems. Note to self: do not anchor near mangroves.
