2022: Marathon Docktail Events

 7 March 2022

A special docktails was held at Faro Blanco Marina this evening. The Wilson girls performed some music for the group.  Clark attended the event. I had my art supplies surrounding me and decided to pass up this opportunity.

The audience

Clark said that the girls' performance was rudely interrupted for a bit by a boat that repeatedly applied its bow thruster. The noise drowned out the guitar and singing. Otherwise, the concert went well.

With a relatively large contingent of AGLCA (Great Loop Cruising Assoc) members docked at Marlin Bay, we had a couple of occasions to have AGLCA docktails. Today, we had an AGLCA couple visiting without a boat. They were therefore staying in one of the luxurious condominiums located on the marina grounds.

Having walked by them over and over again, we were anxious to get a look inside one of condos. They are three stories high with seating on the roof for a great view. We got a chance to walk up and look around.

Clark caught on camera - a rare event

The folks staying in the condo left their boat in Wisconsin (on the hard) and came to Marlin Bay to enjoy the amenities and get away from the cold for a while.

We had a great time meeting fellow loopers - some starting soon, some underway, and some Gold Loopers like us. At this point Clark has collected so many boat cards (like business cards) of the people we have met, we have too many to count!

Every year Faro Blanco holds a brunch celebration to acknowledge Daylight Savings Time arriving. In the past this event has been held on the Sunday morning following the time change causing folks who forgot to change their clocks to show up at the wrong time. This year, it was decided that the brunch should be held on the Saturday. Very helpful idea!

The e-vite

We had a large selection of food including made-while-you-wait waffles. My favorite treat at the table was homemade sugar donuts. I had two when they were first put on the table - hot out of the cooker! So good! My friend Sandy brought a salad with Brussel sprouts mixed in. I think I had thirds on that dish. We also had some very colorful offerings.

Yummy fruit!

Yasmine went to a lot of trouble to make
these beautiful wraps containing spicy bacon.

Sugar Donuts upper right!

  1. Organized City Trips by car is great advice. They are so much fun and a great way to make awesome friends that you may be able to stay with when you continue to travel. Wonderful post.
